Victory Christian Academy Announces Participation in the Indiana School Choice Program (Vouchers)
Victory Christian Academy has been approved to participate in the new statewide voucher program that Governor Daniels recently signed into law. Through the School Scholarship Act (HEA 1003), Victory Christian Academy is seeking to provide more opportunities for students to receive an excellent education in the framework of a Biblical worldview.

Victory Christian Academy will be accepting students who are eligible for vouchers for the 2012-13 school year in the spring. Qualifying families for the 2012-13 school year may contact VCA in Feburary about when that enrollment period may be.

In order to qualify, a student must first go through the admissions process at Victory Christian Academy and be accepted as a student before applying for the School Choice Scholarship. Children in grades 2 -12 who previously attended a public school for the prior two semesters are eligible to apply. Students qualifying for the federal free-and-reduced price lunch program (around $40,000 for a family of four) can receive a voucher of up to 90 percent of the state tuition amount for the sending school district. Children from families who earn up to 150 percent of the program (around $60,000 for a family of four) are eligible for a voucher worth up to 50 percent of the tuition amount.

We are excited about the opportunity to see Christian education be made more affordable for qualifying families. We believe that the state has supported families' desires to choose where children are educated, and we are thankful to offer families an education that is distinctive, excellent, Biblical, and life-changing.

The new law also allows families with children who are enrolled in a private school to claim a $1,000 tax deduction per child from Indiana state taxes for approved educational expenses such as tuition or textbooks.

Interested families may contact the school office directly by calling Joyce Folk at 219.548.2701 (North Campus) or Tammy Canzoneri at 219.548-8803 (South Campus) for assistance with the ECA application process. More information is also available below or at www.MyChoiceINed.com/.

STRATEGIC PLANNING NOW IN PROGRESS
A committee made up of school board members, faculty and parents met Saturday, June 16th, in the first step of developing a strategic plan for the next five years. They analyzed the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and thresats of Victory Christian Academy. Strengths, such as the foundation of the Word of God and faculty that are excellent role models were identified along with weaknesses such as the need for increased faculty salaries and benefits and lack of community awareness. Opportunites (things that can be done that would benefit the school) were determined such as continued development of athletics and the uniqueness and excellence of the school. Threats identified were the lack of emergency funds and lack of space for continued growth of the school.

The committee is presenting their suggestions for the plan to the school board on Tuesday, September 27. They have developed a mission statement, action steps and one, three and five year goals for each prioritized area.

Prayers for the board as they consider the plan and move forward in faith in the areas that the Lord is clearly leading are greatly appreciated.
