Welcome Back, Students!
Welcome, Students, Back to School! We look forward to seeing you again and we also welcome all of our new students! Do you know that God has created you uniquely and that we are the work of His hands. If you have ever worked with clay (most of our last year's art students have) you mold the clay into the special object of your creation. God did that for us...He states that we are the clay and He is the Potter. Before school was even out last year, Mrs. Canzoneri, Mrs. Gordon and myself chose that verse (Isaiah 64:8) for our theme for this year. We order planners for students each year and we never know their theme and what they put on the front page. We order them for 3-6 grades and this year we ordered about 30 extra. When they came in, guess what was on the front? "We are the clay, You are the potter; we are all the work of Your hand.” Isaiah 64:8. Isn't God amazing how He goes before us and provides and confirms His leading? As we learn how God works in our lives in preparing us for His purpose...we will see His mighty hand working!!! We have extra planners for JH & HS---if you did not purchase one yet...we are selling them for just $4. They are available in the North Campus Office. See you soon, Mrs. Folk

New Staff at VCA as the new year starts!
We have hired two teachers to replace Mrs. Delisio and have added Pre-Calculus to the math courses available to our high school students. Mrs. Marisol Parr will be teaching Algebra I, Geometry, Pre-Calculus and running the Math Lab. She is currently working on her masters in mathematics at Valparaiso University. Mrs. Ruth Fortney will be teaching Math 7 (course 2), Pre-Algebra ( course 3) the new junior high Saxon books and Algebra II. She will also run a tutor lab. She has both a bachelors and masters degree in mathematics and has taught in public school a number of years before home schooling her children to give them a Christian viewpoint.
Mr. Derek Chirch will teach three Bible classes (has two degrees in Bible) and use two-three periods a day to assist in administration as an assistant principal and as a development director (he has a masters in administration). He will also be the Athletic Director and we have hired Torrey Mullins to be the athletic director assistant to help with the every expanding program. Mr. Mullins will also be teaching PE for grades PK-12th. He is excited about teaching PE and working with athletics. He is coaching soccer this fall for both MS and HS teams. Mr. Rick Jones has been hired to teach JH and HS social studies. Mr. Jones is Becky Crain's father and is a retired minister from Countryside Christian Church and has been substituing in LaPorte Public Schools the last 4 years. He has a major in social studies education besides his Bible degree. He feels the Lord leading him to this new stage in his life...he will even be teaching Chloe, his grandaughter.
Mrs. Braner will have a new assistant, Miss Hinkley, as we will be offering one Kindergarten class. Mrs. Vannest will be teaching 3rd grade at the South Campus.
Lydia Addison will be teaching elementary Spanish and elementary computers. She will supervise the Foreign Language Lab and be service our computers and help with new purchases. She will actually be keeping both the North and South Campuses labs up and running and all of the ones in classrooms. She has recently received her Associates Degree in Computer Information Systems and is working on a Bachelors Degree in elementary education. She has worked this summer with our Summer Day Camp along with Meghan Hinkley and Morgan Derby.
We have re-hired Cassie Weideman to teach 5th grade and enjoys the older elementary grades (has an endorsement for teaching this level). She is excited about returning to VCA and we are glad to have her back. She will be working closely with her mother (who teaches 4th grade). It looks like our school has a lot of family ties, but teaching is a gift and sometimes it runs in families.
We will miss our dear Mrs. Swank and again have had to replace her with both Mr. Derek Chirch teaching high school Bible and our new English teacher, Mrs. Chelsy Crawford. We are also looking to increase our substitute list for next year. We prefer at least two years of college for substitute teachers but have made exceptions depending on experience. We also need someone to do After School Care (pays $10/hour) at the North Campus---mostly 4-6 graders in it. If you are interested or know someone who may be, call VCA at 548-8803 or 548-2701. Leave a message if there is no answer. Thanks parents and staff!
We welcome all of our new staff!

College Classes Available during High School Years at VCA!
Victory Christian Academy has college classes available for students to take during their junior and senior years.
VCA students will have the opportunity to earn both high school and college credits in select courses under the terms of an agreement with Purdue University North Central. This is the fifth year that VCA has had this agreement with PNC.
An advanced biology course, Anatomy and Physiology, will be taught by Mrs. Lynne Jordan for dual credit. Students may also take psychology under Mrs. Jordan. The cost will be $93 per credit and students will have until the end of the first semester to decide if they want to take the course for college credit as well as high school credit. The Purdue credits are transferable to any Indiana state college.
Also available are college courses taken at either Valparaiso University or Purdue North Central during a student's senior year (usually scheduled in the afternoon at these area colleges). The courses taken during high school can save up to 50% of the costs for college credits.
