Psalm 103:1-2
In Psalm 103, David makes a long list of God’s “benefits.” for His people. Many of them are very practical. For example, He “heals our diseases” and “satisfies your desires with good things.” But chief among His many “benefits” is the forgiveness of sin. David states, “He forgives all your sins.”
I must admit that I am not good about remembering to give thanks to God. I am very good at coming to Him with my concerns, complaints and requests, but not as good at praising Him and remembering “all His benefits.” My wife keeps a journal of answered prayers. That’s a good place to start.
As we begin another school year, let’s encourage one another to praise God and “forget not all His benefits.” I challenge you to make your own list of God’s many “benefits” in your life. And as I reflect on God’s “benefits,” I count VCA high up on that list. Thank you for partnering with us to raise up the next generation of Christ followers. Have a restful weekend!

NORTH CAMPUS PARENT’S NIGHT, Tuesday, August 29: Parent’s Night is this Tuesday, 6:30-7:30 pm, for grades 6-12. Parents are invited to meet the staff of North Campus, visit your child’s classrooms and talk with their teachers. This evening is for parents only. Please enter at Door 3 and we will begin our evening in the gym. For more information, please contact the North Campus office at 219-548-2701.
STUDENT ILLNESS: Each fall, when our students gather back together on campus, we typically see an uptick in illness spreading on both campuses. This year is no different. Our handbook states that if a student is running a fever or throws up at home, please keep them home. If they should come to school and later develop either of these symptoms, we will call you to come and pick them. Students should be fever free for 24 hours without medication before you send them back to school. Thank you for helping slow the spread of illness at each campus.
EMERGENCY/ALTERNATIVE PICK UP AUTHORIZATION: 2023-2024 VCA Emergency/Alternative Pick-up Authorization Form
All grades, PreK-12, are required to submit. Please list all persons on this form that you give permission to pick-up your child from school. If you send someone other than those listed on this form, you will receive a phone call before we will release your child to them and they will need to show a photo ID. We also use this information if your child gets sick at school and needs to be sent home. Please list the persons in the order that you would like them called in the event that we can not reach a parent.
MEDICATION CONSENT: 2023-2024 VCA Medication Consent Form
All grades, PreK-12, required to submit if you give permission for VCA staff to administer over-the-counter medication to your child while at school (Tylenol, Ibuprofen, etc). If you do not complete this form, you will receive a phone call if your child comes to the office with an ailment. If your child suffers from frequent ailments (headaches, stomach aches, etc.) you may be asked to send in medication to be kept at the school.
SAT DAY for Seniors only will be October 11th at 7:45am. Students must register with Mrs. Thomae to take this SAT by September 6th. The cost is $60.
NWEA TESTING: Middle School students will begin NWEA Testing next Tuesday, August 29th. Tuesday and Friday will be English and Wednesday and Thursday will be Math. Please check your email for more specific details.
NORTH CAMPUS FUN FOOD FRIDAY:
Fun Food Fridays will begin at the North Campus on Friday, September 2. This an option instead of packing a lunch from home and is not required. To order, please login to your Sycamore account, go to “My Accounting”, go to “Cafeteria”, go to “Orders”. Be sure the cycle year at the top is 2024 and press “Update”. After entering your order, press “Update” to record the order. Here is the menu for September:
