In the early days of the first century church in Jerusalem, their numbers were few, but growing “daily” as the Lord added to their numbers. Luke describes this early community as a close-knit family that met “together,” not only in the “temple courts,” but also in their homes, eating together “with glad and sincere hearts.”
Next Friday, September 22nd, is our annual PTF sponsored VCA Family Picnic, from 4:30-7:30 pm at Rogers Lakewood Park. This annual event is meant to allow for an opportunity to come together as a VCA family and fellowship together.
Events like this are important in the life of the school. There are many new families again this year that the Lord has brought to VCA and this allows them to get to know the community they are now a part of. It also provides an opportunity for all of us who are “veterans” of VCA to renew relationships and strengthen them.
It’s been said that “the family that prays together, stays together.” I have also heard it said that “the family that plays together, stays together.” In order to build community, we need to set aside time to both pray and play together. The fall family picnic is one of only two all-school social events the PTF schedules each year. The other is in May. I hope you can make these events a priority on your calendars each school year. Half Day of School: Friday, September 22: PreK-12 early dismissal (North Campus at 12:05 pm and South Campus at 12:10 pm) for teacher professional development meetings. These are important opportunities for the VCA faculty and administration to continue to grow professionally in our roles as Christian School educators. The better prepared we are, the better the education we can provide for our students.

FALL PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES FOR GRADES 1-12, October 11 and 12: Scheduling for parent/teacher conferences is now open through your Sycamore account. Please go to “My School” in your menu on the left-hand side and click on P/T Conference. Choose the date and the student. Click on the time frame box for a specific teacher and schedule your appointment. Once you confirm the time, you will need to contact the school if you need to change it. If you have more than one child with the same teacher, you may meet with that teacher at one time for both children. Parent/Teacher Conferences will take place on:
- Wednesday, October 11 (half day, PreK-12): North Campus, 1:00-8:00 pm, South Campus, 1:00 - 5:30 pm
- Thursday, October 12 (no school): North Campus 8:00 am - 12:00 pm, South Campus 8:30 am-8:00 pm,
- Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten teachers will be setting up their schedule by contacting parents directly

Fun Food Fridays have begun at the North Campus. This is an option instead of packing a lunch from home and is not required. To order, please login to your Sycamore account, go to “My Accounting”, go to “Cafeteria”, go to “Orders”. Be sure the cycle year at the top is 2024 and press “Update”. After entering your order, press “Update” to record the order. Here is the menu for September:
