When John, who was in prison, heard about the deeds of the Messiah,
he sent his disciples  to ask him, “Are you the one who is to come,
or should we expect someone else?”
Matthew 11:2-3 NIV

As I read this passage of scripture recently, I was convicted by how easy it is for me to question God when things don’t go the way I think they should. John the Baptist was a nephew of Jesus and a great prophet whom God had appointed to announce the coming of the Messiah.  Jesus said that “among those born of women there is no one greater than John…”  Yet even John questioned if Jesus was the Messiah when he was in prison.  I imagine he thought Jesus would come and rescue him, but when He didn’t, John began to doubt what he knew to be true.

How often do we, as followers of Christ, begin to question or doubt God when things don’t go the way we think they should or when we think they should.  It was Raymond Edward who famously said, “Never doubt in the dark what God told you in the Light.”

As we “run with perseverance the race'' God has “marked out” for us, may we never doubt “in the dark” (when things don’t go the way we think they should”) what we know to be true about God from His Word and life experiences.  As Isaiah prophesied, God’s “ways are not our ways.”  He is God and we are not.  The cross of Christ should forever settle the question if God loves us unconditionally and only has our best in mind.

The SOUTH CAMPUS SPELLING BEE has been rescheduled for Monday, January 22.

PASTOR APPRECIATION MONTH: Officially, the month of October is “Pastor Appreciation Month,” but at VCA we want to show our appreciation to our area pastors by inviting them to lunch at either or both campuses. Parents and students, please reach out to your local pastor (youth, children’s or adult pastors) and invite them to eat lunch with you during the month of February.  The ministry of VCA is a three-way partnership with the school, home and local church.  “A cord of three strands is not easily broken…” Ecclesiastes 4:12(b)

2024-2025 RE-ENROLLMENT:  Re-enrollment for the 2024-2025 school year will begin on Monday, February 12, 2024.  For three weeks in February, existing VCA families have the opportunity to re-enroll before we open enrollment to the public on March 1.  If you know that you want your child(ren) to attend VCA for the 2024-2025 school year, please do not delay in re-enrolling in February.  As of March 1, we go to a first-come, first-serve basis and because your child attended during 2023-2024 does not guarantee enrollment for the 2024-2025 school year if you did not take advantage of the early re-enrollment period.  Re-enrollment will be completed through your Sycamore account.  Instructions for re-enrollment will be communicated through email, text and a written letter the last week of January.

PTF is SO EXCITED to invite you to the 2024 GAME NIGHT and CULVER'S FUNDRAISER!!  Come to the South Campus gym on Monday, January 29 from 3:30-5:00 for games and fellowship.  Please bring your family's favorite game to play.  Our students love this time of fellowship and getting to introduce their favorite games to their friends.  Parents need to attend with their children and will not be permitted to enter the gym until 3:30 so that the SC staff can complete pick up/dismissal procedures.  After-school care will be in the Kindergarten modular that day.

Then join us at Culver's from 5:00-8:00pm to eat dinner and raise money for our PTF!  A percentage of all sales will be given back to PTF.  PTF needs some help with clean up, wiping tables, delivering orders to cars outside, and bringing orders to tables inside.  If you are able to help please sign up with the link below.  Must be 16 years old or older to help!
