"He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.
Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.”
So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples."
Matthew 28:6-8 NIV

A week from this Sunday is Easter (or Resurrection Sunday), celebrated by Christians all around the world. On this day, those of us who profess faith in Christ as our Savior and Lord, come together to worship the risen Christ who saved us from our sins.

One of the greatest testimonies to the risen Christ is the empty tomb.  A Roman guard was posted to ensure against the disciples coming and stealing Christ’s body, at the request of the Jewish Chief Priest and religious leaders.  The likelihood that those same disciples who ran away out of fear when Jesus was arrested would later return and face a Roman guard in an attempt to steal Christ’s body was extremely remote. They would have feared the same fate as Jesus had they been caught.

As you make plans to share time together as families this Spring Break, don’t forget on March 31st to celebrate together with other believers the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  Paul wrote in I Corinthians 15:4, “And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith.” There is no more important event in all of human history than the resurrection of Christ.
