I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.
the life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God,
who loved me and gave himself for me.
Galatians 2:20 NIV

C.T. Studd, a British 17th-century missionary, was the son of a wealthy businessman, a professional athlete, and a Cambridge University graduate.  However, he gave it all up to follow Christ’s call to serve on a foreign mission field in the heart of Africa.  When asked why he did this, he famously said, “If Jesus Christ be God and died for me, no sacrifice I could make for Him would be too great.”

That is essentially what the Apostle Paul wrote in his letter to the Galatians in chapter 2, verse 20.  He considered himself “crucified with Christ.” He no longer lived. The life he lived was devoted fully to serving Christ and not himself.  He did this because Christ “loved me and gave Himself for me.”

Given all that Christ has done for us, there is no sacrifice we could make that would be too great for Him.  As followers of Christ, we are to “take up our cross daily and follow Him.” Among other things, that means laying down our right to make our own decisions and saying with Him, ‘“Nevertheless, not my will but your will be done.”
