Friday Update, Aug. 29th
Locked on Jesus...Locked in Life
Every Sermon is really just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to God’s
Word. That’s why, every other week, instead of chapel, we set aside time
for Life Groups at North Campus. These groups are led by volunteers who
walk with students to dig a little deeper into the text—but more
importantly, to talk about how to actually live it out.
The key to Christian maturity isn’t just to learn information, but to
experience transformation. Scripture has one meaning, but it applies
differently depending on where you are in life—a 5th grader, a senior, or
an adult will live it out in different ways. Life Groups give us a chance to
do life together as we follow Jesus and become more like Him.
On chapel weeks, the questions we send will recap the message and point
back to the text. On Life Group weeks (like this one), the questions will be
more action-focused so you can talk about how to apply God’s Word as a
family.
Family Discussion Questions – Colossians 1:1–8
Paul thanked God for the Colossians’ faith, love, and hope. Which one of
those three do you want to grow in this week, and how could you take
one step toward it?Paul prayed for people he had never even met. Who is one person or
group you can pray for this week—maybe a missionary, a persecuted
believer, neighbor, or someone in your life who doesn’t know Jesus? The Gospel is called “the Good News.” What’s one way our family can
remind ourselves of that Good News this week—at home, school, or
work?
